Ultrafiltration (UF) takes drinking-water filtration a significant step further. Using an extremely fine hollow-fibre membrane, typically filtering down to around 0.01 micron, it creates a physical barrier capable of removing microscopic particles and contaminants from the water.
Unlike reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration does not remove the dissolved minerals naturally present in your water.
How Ultrafiltration Works
Microscopic Filtration
Water passes through thousands of tiny hollow fibres containing microscopic pores. These act as a highly effective physical barrier, trapping suspended particles, sediment, cysts, bacteria and other contaminants larger than the membrane’s rated pore size.
Microplastic Removal
The extremely fine membrane provides an effective physical barrier against microplastics larger than its rated pore size, giving customers who are concerned about microplastics a significantly higher level of filtration than a conventional taste and odour filter.
Retains Natural Minerals
Unlike reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration allows dissolved minerals such as calcium and magnesium to remain in the drinking water. This makes UF an excellent choice for customers who want finer filtration while retaining the water’s natural mineral content.
No Electricity or Storage Tank Required
The system uses normal household water pressure, so it doesn't require electricity or a large storage tank. It produces filtered water on demand whenever you turn on the drinking-water tap.
Simple Maintenance
Maintenance is straightforward: replace the filter cartridge annually to maintain water quality, flow, and filtration performance.
