Why Choose Harvey Block Salt Over Cheaper Alternatives?
Harvey’s Block Salt stands out from cheaper brands for its superior quality and performance. Our engineers have found that using cheap, impure block salt can cause damage to water softeners. These lower-quality salts often contain grit and oil, which settle at the bottom of the machine and can harm sensitive components. Unfortunately, using such salts voids the 10-year warranty we offer on our water softeners. If you find salt blocks significantly cheaper than ours, they are likely of lower quality and could risk damaging your machine.
Compatibility
Harvey Block Salt is compatible with a range of water softeners, including Harvey, Kinetico, Twintec, Crown, BWT, and Monarch models. However, if you own a Minimax Innova, TwinTec Cobalt, or Harvey Arc, you must use Harvey Curve salt blocks.
Are Salt Blocks Better for Water Softeners?
For machines designed to use block salt, this is the most appropriate option. Salt tablets can create undissolved sludge at the bottom of the tank, increasing the need for maintenance. In contrast, block salt dissolves evenly, as it remains just below the water line and leaves no residue. It also stops dissolving once the brine tank reaches a saturation point, ensuring efficient usage.

Harvey Block Salt is compatible with all older-generation block salt softeners, as well as tablet salt softeners that can also use blocks. It is particularly suited for Kinetico water softeners, including the 2020c, AquaBlu, and Compact models.
How Much Salt Will My Softener Use?
Salt consumption varies depending on your water usage and the hardness of your local water. We expect about ¾ of a salt block to be used per person per month, based on Kent and South East London water hardness.
