Our simple hard water test tablets give you an easy way to check whether your taps are running hard or softened water, and to confirm that your water softener is doing its job.
They’ll give you a reading down to around 50ppm of hardness. According to the official scale, anything below 70ppm is classed as soft water. Just be aware that from about 30ppm upwards, you may still notice the odd cosmetic watermark, even though your water is technically soft.
If you’d like a more detailed measurement, take a look at our Kit 2: Accuracy Test Kit which provides more precise readings.
How to Use
Fill the plastic tube with the water you want to test — up to 1cm below the 10ml line.
Drop in a tablet.
Cover the tube with your finger (or pop the lid on) and give it a good shake.
Green water = 50ppm or less → soft water
Orange water = above 50ppm → hard water
💡 If your softened water shows as hard, get in touch and we’ll be happy to arrange a FREE Health Check on your softener.
